Engaging the autosteer function

Before using the autosteer function, the operator must:

  • Have a set of correctly defined guidelines
  • Enable the autosteer function on the console
  • Have calibrated the autosteer function
  • Check that all the items in the autosteer status panel are indicated in green
  • Have configured the autosteer function correctly in accordance with the type of task and the vehicle
  • Have driven the vehicle to the desired starting point.
  1. Zoom and pan on the screen until the vehicle is in the centre of the screen and at a comfortable size for viewing.

Note: If it is necessary to use an external autosteer on/off switch, this must be enabled during vehicle configuration. If an electric steering wheel system is used, activate the electrical steering wheel and turn the steering wheel by a quarter of a turn to enable the autosteer function.

  1. Check that Autosteer on/off icon A is shown in white. This means it is ready to use.

The autosteer function is now ready to use. Press Autosteer on/off to start.

The autosteer function is now engaged and in operation. Press Autosteer on/off to return to manual control. The button may flash blue briefly before turning green.

Autosteer cannot be engaged. Press Autosteer on/off or open the Autosteer options menu to view the autosteer system status and identify the possible cause of the problem.

The autosteer icon flashes to indicate "Engagement delayed" state.

If the autosteer icon is displayed in red, and the only red light condition in the autosteer status screen has been resolved (e.g. speed), the operator may press Autosteer on/off twice (double click), and the icon turns yellow and flashes to indicate that the autosteer function will be engaged if the necessary conditions are met within the next 15 seconds. If conditions are not met, it will return to red.

  1. Resolve any problems indicated in red in the Autosteer status window (resolve problems in the order listed, starting from the top of the screen). When the Autosteer on/off icon is shown in white, the function is ready to be engaged.
  1. Drive slowly to meet a guideline, heading in the desired direction.
  2. Press Autosteer on/off. The button turns green. The vehicle steers to the nearest guideline.
  3. If the vehicles steers too aggressively towards the line, stop the vehicle, disengage the autosteer function and reset the autosteer configuration parameters from the autosteer options menu.
